Stephanie graduated from the University of Minnesota/Mayo School of Health Sciences with her bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care. She also holds a master’s degree in Leadership from Northeastern University. Stephanie has been involved in education since early in her career and spent 7 years in staff education and management before transitioning into the role of Director of Clinical Education for the University of Minnesota/Mayo Clinic School of Health Science’s Respiratory Therapy program. Stephanie has worked in a variety of settings, with the bulk of her direct patient care experience within intensive care and emergency medicine. Stephanie has had the privilege of interacting with learners across the world in a variety of disciplines. She originally obtained an Associates from Lake Superior College and then went back to obtain a Bachelor’s of Pulmonary Sciences from Concordia. His primary areas of focus are: Endoscopic and open airway surgery for diseases such as subglottic/tracheal stenosis, vocal cord paralysis or vascular compression (In both children and adults), head and neck tumors (benign and malignant), lymphovascular malformations, sinus disease and sinonasal tumors and surgery for complex sleep apnea and sleep disordered breathing. Dr. Wiedermann lived in Ethiopia following his training helping to establish an academic otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency program. She is the Associate Dean for Research at the College of Health Professions and teaches in the Department of Respiratory Care at Texas State University. Dr. Ari’s primary area of research is aerosol medicine. Her interest in research has manifested in 81 abstracts, 80 peer-reviewed articles, 16 book chapters, two clinical practice guidelines, and two books. She gave more than 300 presentations at conferences worldwide. Dr. Ari has been recognized as an outstanding faculty and received 29 prestigious awards for her accomplishments in research and education. Her work received the prestigious Monaghan/Trudell Award for Aerosol Technique Development three times in the past ten years. She received the Mitchell Baran Achievement Award for Clinical Excellence in Aerosol and Airway Clearance Therapies. Dr. Ari is the Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal for Respiratory Care and the Guest Editor of Pharmaceutics. She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Aerosol Medicine. As a strong advocate for the development of the respiratory care profession worldwide, Dr. Ari has served as the Governor of Turkey at the International Respiratory Care Council for 25 years and promotes the profession of respiratory care around the world. Dr. Ari has also served on numerous committees of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Respiratory Care Foundation, International Society for Aerosols in Medicine, American Association for Respiratory Care, COPD Foundation, Turkish Respiratory Society. She has been carrying out that duty with her devoted work as a R.N. and minister for over 30 years. She fosters lasting relationships and connections that are deeply rooted in devotion, compassion, and professionalism. She began her professional journey in South Dakota where she received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing. After realizing her desire to support people spiritually, she then earned her Bachelor’s degree in Theology in Kansas. Cathy has worked in many areas of nursing, as well as leadership level responsibilities as a Minister. She and her husband along with their two daughters, have called Rochester home for over 10 years. Along with the fun family life, Cathy enjoys working with their two fur babies: a Flat-Coated Retriever and a Maine Coon cat. She is currently getting them ready for therapy work in the future. Cathy is currently the Senior Hospital Partner Liaison for Mayo Clinic hospitals with Lifesource the Upper Midwest Organ Procurement Organization. She serves families whose loved ones give the precious gifts of life through organ and tissue donation. She also works in the Decedent Affairs office as a specialist helping families navigate next steps after the loss of their loved one. Cathy is a Board member for the Gift of Life Transplant House and is the resident Chaplain for the guests there. The individuals that spend time with Cathy appreciate and trust her care and concern for them. She is committed to excellence and carries that out in every area of her life. |

Rebecca Hilson![]() Rebecca Hilson, Tissue Program Coordinator, has been part of the hospital services team with UW Organ and Tissue Donation for just under eight years. She works with approximately 40 hospitals throughout Wisconsin promoting organ and tissue donation. Rebecca started her donation career having worked for Wisconsin’s first tissue bank Milwaukee tissue bank for 12 years. She prides herself on working collaboratively with UW OTD’s hospital partners to build strong donation programs to ultimately, to provide the highest level of care and compassion to donors and their families. Donation and transplantation has touched her personally – her brother Steve was the grateful recipient of a kidney/pancreas transplant for 28 years. |

Sarah Schroeder, RRT![]() Sarah Schroeder, RRT, is a 2002 Graduate of Mid-State Technical College. She is the Respiratory Clinical Educator and will celebrate 22 years with Aspirus Wausau Hospital in October of 2022. She works closely with UW OTD, is a member of Aspirus’ Organ & Tissue Donation committee and is a designated requestor for the state of Wisconsin. She has a personal connection to organ donation as her father was a recipient of a kidney and pancreas in 1996 which sparked her interest in healthcare. Her father received another lifesaving donation in 2018 which was a completely different journey as she knew all of the amazing work that was being done on the donor side to prepare for her father’s donation. Sarah has made it a focus to be a support for her colleagues, donor families and recipients throughout the donation journey. |

Arzu Ari, PhD, RRT, PT, CPFT, FAARC, FCCP![]() Dr. Arzu Ari is a physical therapist and a respiratory therapist with 25 years of experience as a manager, clinician, educator, and researcher. She is the Associate Dean for Research at the College of Health Professions and teaches in the Department of Respiratory Care at Texas State University. Dr. Ari’s primary area of research is aerosol medicine. Her interest in research has manifested in 81 abstracts, 80 peer-reviewed articles, 16 book chapters, two clinical practice guidelines, and two books. She gave more than 300 presentations at conferences worldwide. Dr. Ari has been recognized as an outstanding faculty and received 29 prestigious awards for her accomplishments in research and education. Her work received the prestigious Monaghan/Trudell Award for Aerosol Technique Development three times in the past ten years. She received the Mitchell Baran Achievement Award for Clinical Excellence in Aerosol and Airway Clearance Therapies. Dr. Ari is the Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal for Respiratory Care and the Guest Editor of Pharmaceutics. She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Aerosol Medicine. As a strong advocate for the development of the respiratory care profession worldwide, Dr. Ari has served as the Governor of Turkey at the International Respiratory Care Council for 25 years and promotes the profession of respiratory care around the world. Dr. Ari has also served on numerous committees of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Respiratory Care Foundation, International Society for Aerosols in Medicine, American Association for Respiratory Care, COPD Foundation, Turkish Respiratory Society.
